Autisme Therapie Fundashon Verriet

The Verriet Foundation provides various types of therapy, treatment and guidance to people with autism in order to stimulate their development and to assist them in finding a suitable place in the society. A multi-disciplinary team provides a wide range of guidance to clients with autism, whether or not in combination with a mental disability.

The autism therapy team of Verriet Foundation will look for a suitable form of guidance for each client with autism. After the registration and the intake interview, the client can be scheduled for the different autism-oriented forms of treatment within the Verriet Foundation.

Orthopedagogical Day Center Mia Bremmers

Grupo Luna (group moon) and Grupo Strea (group star) of our Orthopedagogical Day Center Mia Bremmers, provide a development-based program to children between 3 and 7 years old with autism. The program is mainly directed at social skills, behaviour regulation and cognitive development. The aim is to later transfer to a (special) elementary school. The day structure is similar to a kindergarten and is directed at teaching the scholastic and social skills needed within a group setting. Besides the working moments, horse therapy, speech therapy in group setting, game training and sport are provided.

Het Savaanhuis

At Het Savaanhuis there is an afternoon group of treatment for children between the ages of 7 to 12 years old who due to autism need extra guidance in the areas of the daily living skills, social skills, leisure activities and the emotion regulation. These children go to a regular or special elementary school and three times a week after school they come to the afternoon group. A treatment plan is drawn up for each child based on his or her specific need. Children will receive individual guidance when needed, based on the specific development needs of the child. This guidance can consist of individual talk therapy or training, where children are stimulated to develop their playful behaviour and learn to play in varied ways. Furthermore, music activities, sport activities and horse therapy are provided.

Equine-assisted Therapy

Besides the previously mentioned therapies, equine assisted therapy is also provided at the Verriet Foundation. Equine assisted therapy provides a wide range of possibilities to assist children/young adults and to stimulate their development. The relationship between the client, the horse and the therapist, the interaction possibilities and the different stimuli, make a horse a really suitable therapy partner. Horses are unbiased and non-judgemental therefore bonding between the clients and the horse can form in a short period of time. During the horse therapy the following activities can be provided: horseback riding, cleaning, horse lunging, exercises on the horse and educational activities. The therapy can be provided individually or in groups.
