Curaçao Orthotics & Prosthetics treats clients who experience issues with the knee, hip, shoulder, back, hand, leg, foot and ankle. You can contact us for a consultation if you have complaints and limitations with the bones, joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments.

Each specific physical complaint will be determined through a thorough diagnostic examination.

After the examination our qualified orthopedic instruments manufacturers will make the required orthopedic aids completely custom made or will order these aids if they are not in stock.

Generally, COP applies a 2-week delivery time after taking measurements and the orthopedic aid will be completely finished 3 months after use.

The start of the process

On request of the medical specialists in hospitals, our qualified orthopedic instruments manufacturers will visit their patients to take measurements and the custom-made orthopedic aids will be supplied afterwards. The most common orthopedic aids that we supply are orthoses, prostheses, braces, corsets, arch supports, compression stockings and (semi) orthopedic shoes.

In case you are a client of the Rehbilitation Centre, the rehabilitation doctor and the physiotherapist will discuss with us about which orthopedic aids you need. COP will manufacture or order the orthopedic aids, commissioned by these specialists, and the Rehabilitation Centre will assist you further with regard to your posture and movement using these support aids.

Aftercare

To guarantee the quality of our first-rate orthopedic aids, we attach much importance to adequate aftercare. An orthopedic aid will be a part of your life. In order to move freely with this body support for as long as possible, our qualified device manufacturers will provide expert advice on how to maintain your device. In the first year we will also plan multiple follow-up appointments with you and depending on your progress we will slowly taper off the number of consultations. With each consultation we will check if the orthopedic aids still meet the requirements and wishes and we can determine whether these support aids need to de adjusted after some time.

In case you experience problems with the orthopedic aids, we will intervene and provide a solution for the problems. Contact us immediately if:

  • Your aid is too tight (red spots on your skin is a sign of this) or too wide;
  • Your aid makes strange noises;
  • You get irritations or other skin conditions.
